Pauline Ascue

Parent/Toddler, Transition Rm 1, 3 Day Rm 1

I'm Pauline. I will begin my third school year with the Hanna community this fall. I am originally from Seattle and moved to sunny San Diego two years ago. Before joining the Hanna team, I taught for a Reggio-inspired program in Seattle for six years in a multi-age (2.5 years-5 years old) classroom.

I attended the University of Washington and graduated with a BA in Society, Ethics, and Human Behavior. I also received my Early Childhood Education Certification from Vanguard University. I believe children learn best through play, discovery, and exploring their environment around them. By creating a warm and positive setting, children can become confident and eager learners. I love being a part of a child's growth and teaching them that learning is fun. I value the Reggio approach because the children guide the curriculum. As teachers we work closely with the children to deepen their interests and there is no better way for them to truly engage. Watching a child light up as they make their own discoveries and accomplishments is a rewarding feeling for me as a teacher.

During my free time I like to go to the beach, be outdoors, bake and spend time with my family and friends. I have two brothers and we love cheering on our Seattle Seahawks! I also like to travel whether it be local or abroad.
