Getting Started

The Hanna Fenichel Center welcomes children of all races, colors, national and ethnic origins. We believe that a wide variety of backgrounds will enrich your child's experience.  Enrollment priority is given to siblings, children of alumni parents and SD Psychoanalytic Institute members providing the timely submission of wait list forms and our ability to provide appropriate placement.

Once enrolled, our teachers visit all newly enrolled children and their parents at home. Our goal is for each child to have a smooth and happy transition from home to school. This also helps teachers become more familiar with your child's developmental background.

Throughout each school year, a consultant from the San Diego Psychoanalytic Society and Institute meets with teachers and the director to discuss child development and current trends. All information and discussions are kept confidential. The dynamics of groups are also assessed to help provide a clearer pathway toward building successful relationships with the children as individuals and to foster a positive group setting.
